Arabest Publishing has just one objective - to tell the story of Dundee United. The original idea was to produce a book for publication in the club's centenary year, 2009. The author, Steve Gracie began to research the history of Dundee United in the latter half of 2002 and then in February 2003 joined Dundee United, writing the in house publication, T&B Magazine. Over the next eighteen months an extensive file of information on Dundee United was accumulated and the story began to take shape . However, it soon became apparent that there was just far too much information for one book and a new idea emerged -- to write the history of Dundee United FC in three volumes with each book divided into three sections. The first section in each book relates the story of the club, season by season and that is followed by a season by season section on the players who signed for the club each year. The last section contains the statistical record for each player, detailing his total appearances and goals in each competition. Other books containing similar information have of course been published, but this new approach offers greater detail in a single reference source. Also, the advent of the internet has brought access to much more information to update both the history of the club and its players. Readers will also find a vast number of photographs, many of which have not been seen for over sixty years. |
